Happy Birthday Manet. This one was always my favourite of yours. Your use of black contour lines was always so marvelously done, and it works particularly well in this portrait of a young piper… Its like a Japonese print meets 19th century Western Europe and it’s a wonderful departure from tradition. You were a fine artist indeed.
