If you only ever take one piece of advice from me, let it be this.

Go to Nadege Patisserie on Queen West at Trinity Bellwood. Try the little bite sized creme brulee flavoured nuggets of heavenly goodness. Enjoy the simple flavours in the first bite, take notice of the delicate textures, and then savour the surprising complexity that happens when the second wave of flavour hits your tongue as you reach the little golden brown bit at the bottom.

Then follow that up with a selection of the prettiest, most delicate, delicious macaroons that you have ever seen, smelled and tasted. And don’t shy away from trying one of the more exotic flavours. Had I followed my initial instinct, I would have left the Mojito-flavoured macaroon behind and missed out on one of the most incredible toothsome experiences of my 26 years as an avid foodie. I’m telling you, it tasted so much like a mojito (in the best way possible) that it hurt my head trying to figure out how they were able to pack all of those flavours into one pretty little mint green cookie.

If you ever show up at my door with a pretty package filled with goodies from Nadege, I will be your lifelong friend and we can go on dates to the most delightful little patisserie this town has ever seen and be happy forever and ever (or until we get a stomach ache).

I am spending this Monday night coming down from one of the most enjoyable weekends of all time. Why was it so enjoyable? Secrets… to be revealed in time. A Beginner Lesson on YouTube for Susie

Susie, I have posted a clip here that I found on YouTube that I thought might appeal to you. I typed in “as time goes by bloopers” into the search field, and what do you know? There is an 8 1/2 minute outtake reel of footage posted up there for all of us to enjoy.

If you are curious as to what other gems you might find in YouTube, feel free to either google YouTube, or click on this video where it says “Watch on YouTube” to be directed to the site. There you can search any number of things till your little hearts content. Feel like seeing Gene Kelly dance with Tom and Gerry? Look it up! Want to see some cute home videos of dogs playing with skateboards? Give it a go. You can find songs you like, and movies split into parts, and tv shows, and interviews… you can rewatch those crazy ladies on the view fight with each other, or discover 3 year old violin players. You can even see your own daughter playing frisbee in the hallways of a Wetherby hotel. Its all there.

I am enjoying the second day of Marketing Week very much thanks to Terry O’Reily’s very thought provoking talk on inspiring marketing campaigns. I might post a few others that made me really excited. For those of you who are familiar with the advertising/marketing world, these are all probably old ideas, but as a newbie, they make me think… a lot.

I guess having a masters in art history is not that far outside of the realm of marketing, as both have the connection of visual culture… it could be argued.

Anyway - this radio ad is hilarious.

I believe that this is the universe rewarding me for having a good heart.

Thats not true (I mean I don’t believe it was a reward, but the good heart part is definitely true).

There was nobody around when I found it, so I put it in my pocket. I didn’t put it right into my wallet, just in case out of the blue someone came running down the street in a panic looking for their two lost twenty dollar bills. I wanted to be able to reach into my pocket easily and hand it back to them with a smile.

But no one came running, so I kept on walking, thinking about what I should do with my little life reward… or rather, with my little bout of luck.

My day was spent: Drifting in and out of fever dreams, video games, and looking at the full version of this graphic on my external monitor.

harper.dudevice.com is not the first, but the most recent to call me out on how terrible this blog has become. It is being neglected, it’s true… but if you can… view yourself as my child… and me as a blue collar dad saving up for the best christmas present ever for you! But, I don’t want you to know that I’m saving up, so I have stopped bringing you back your daily bag of 5cent candies from the local store.

You are furious, how could I? How could I take something so wonderful away from you… you looked forward to those candies every day! and now, you get nothing… and with no explanation?!?! DAD! How could you?

Don’t worry, as soon as the pony I’m working on shows up under the tree you will forget that you ever wanted the candies… and even if I bring them back after the Pony is out… it will hardly be compelling.

Now, sometimes the candies will be fed to the pony…

But I should stop this metaphor before something of importance implodes.
